Important Weekend
Times
Dear Chrysalis Community:
It is with heavy heart, but I must regretfully
inform you that the upcoming Boy's Weekend scheduled for July
24-26, 2010 has been postponed to February 19-21, 2011.
The Chrysalis CARES board met Monday evening and
held a lively conversation to discuss the postponing of the
weekend. As of Monday evening we had 6 registrations in hand
with little hope of collecting more before this Saturday. Our
model from The Upper Room mandates that we must have at least 12
registered youth to carry forward with the weekend.
Over the past 10 years, since my original flight
in the winter of 2000, I do not remember us having to postpone a
flight. I am greatly disappointed in the need to postpone this
weekend. That being said I am very proud of the work Jesus and
this community have done with the last handful of flights. I
remember candlelights with standing room only, full rosters and
most recently no names were read at the past candlelight for
needing additional agape.
We have been doing very well, but I think this a
great reminder that no matter how well we are doing, God is
still in charge. He can bring weekends together and he can most
certainly take them apart. We, as a board, believe that God has
asked us to postpone this weekend. I would challenge each of you
to pray about the future of our community and clarity in the
vision and path that God has set before us. If you would like to
gather as a community and pray I will be at Stonybrook UMC at
8pm on Sunday evening for a quiet time of prayer. This is the
regularly scheduled candlelight time. Any and all are welcome.
